Loony Blurbs – the 2015 Release Edition!

loony blurbs 4

Loony Blurbs is a monthly link-up, created by yours truly, where we make up blurbs based merely on a book title. And since it’s December, I thought it’d be great to make it themed as 2015 releases. All this week there’s going to be stuff on 2014 books and books coming out NEXT year – I’m calling it Past and Future Week, but if you come up with something better, let me know πŸ™‚

Let’s go!

The Trouble with Destiny by Lauren Morrill

the trouble with destinyThe trouble with Destiny is that she’s always predicting people’s futures. Asking to read their lifelines. Sipping tea in class so she can read the leaves (and anyway, who uses tea leaves these days?).

But when Destiny tells Nathan that he’s about to go on one of the wildest adventures of his life, she’s not wrong.

Destiny calls.

Mosquitoland by David Arnold

mosquitolandYou’d think a gap year would be fun. You’d think. But somewhere between France and Germany, David and his friends end up in Mosquitoland.

The Mosquitos are a cult of female vampires intent on making David’s life hell. Except for one. Myra just wants to go on a road trip with them.

And that’s how Operation Get Out of Mosquitoland begins.

Inherit Midnight by Kate Kae Myers

inherit midnight 2Sure, the circumstances around Kate’s grandfather’s death are strange, but that’s not the strangest. In his will, he leaves to her the stroke of midnight – just like Cinderella’s curfew.

Kate becomes a guardian of midnight, alert for the witches who would come from their covens if it was unguarded for a second.

Until, that is, she makes friends with one of the witches.

Where the Staircase Ends by Stacey Stokes

where the staircase endsStacey doesn’t question the staircase. Doesn’t ask why she climbs, only stopping at each of the strange places on the landings of each flight.

She doesn’t question it until the day the staircase ends, and a door opens before her. A messenger tells her that she has a choice: to go on beyond the door, or to stay in one of the lands she passed on her way.

Well…is that even a choice, really?

All Fall Down by Ally Carter

all fall downIt’s an intergalactic game of ring a ring o’ roses. Nobody’s sneezing, though. This is deadly serious.

The first to fall down loses.

But what happens when they all fall down for some unknown reason, and Ally is the only one left standing?

The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons

the glass arrowCinderella gets her shoe back. The glass slipper. She fits it onto her foot and is about to live happily ever after with her prince.

But the second glass item follows – an arrow. Straight into her back.

The glass-blowers of Krimm are revolting – their minimum wage of 3 bronze pieces a year just doesn’t cut it anymore.

What on earth is the kingdom going to do without glass? Without Cinderella?

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

a darker shade of magicThere are different shades of magic. Everyone always thought black magic was the worst, the most deadly. As a Yellow Shade, Victoria’s existence is one of (pretty much) rainbows and butterflies.

Little does she know that her friend, a White Shade, could be more dangerous than even the darkest in Shade history.

How’d I go? And which of these books are you looking forward to in 2015? I can’t WAIT to read (the real version of) A Darker Shade of Magic.

Remember the link-up goes all month, so you can sign up at any time! I can’t wait to see all your blurbs.

  1. OH I AM LAUGHING SO SO HARD AT WE ALL FALL DOWN: “It’s an intergalactic game of ring a ring o’ roses” <—- THIS. Oh you win the internet.

  2. Oh my god I am so looking forward to reading Where the Staircase Ends and Inherit Midnight…. and now I read more I think I am also going to enjoy A Darker Shade of Magic….huh. Shade. Reminds me of the Eragon books.

  3. AH THESE ARE AWESOME, ONCE AGAIN. And especially All Fall Down. I would absolutely read all your versions of these books. πŸ˜›

I’ll be sure to link up and do my own version this month, but I really don’t think I’ll even get close to how amusing your post is! πŸ™‚

  4. I love all of these, especially Inherit Midnight πŸ™‚ Great picks this week Emily, I’m looking forward to giving these titles a go this month!

  5. Where the Staircase Ends! Imagine if that was the actual book, I think it’d lull us all into a state of narcolepsy! πŸ˜€ Even still, that’s probably better than the actual synopsis. ‘The Mosquitos are a cult of female vampires intent on making David’s life hell. Except for one. Myra just wants to go on a road trip with them.’ Oh good grief that made me laugh. So, does Myra join them, or does David not make it out?

    I love these Em! ❀

  6. Hahaha, these are all great, Em! πŸ˜€ I especially love the blurbs for Mosquitoland and Inherit Midnight – I’d totally read those two!
