Ten 2014 releases I wanted to read…but didn’t

00dc8-toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

Each week there’s a different Top Ten list. It’s a great way to find and connect with other awesome bloggers.

Quite a few books were released in 2014.

And by “a few” I mean about three million and five. Okay, not really. But how can you expect me to read ALL the books that come out? It’s impossible! Here are some, though, that I really wanted to read:

masquerade ask again later the museum of intangible things

Masquerade by Kylie Fornasier

Aussie authors FTW. Somehow I just never got around to this one…2015 for sure!

Ask Again Later by Liz Czukas

Because it sounds utterly fluffy and great. Plus, it has that whole two-possibilities alternate-universe thing, which is cool.

The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder

This was one of the contemporaries I had in 2013 for “anticipating in 2014,” and I never quite got around to it. It’s about a road trip, and I LOVED The Probability of Miracles, so I really want to read this one.

i'll give you the sun snow like ashes love letters to the dead side effects may vary

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

I wasn’t a huge fan of The Sky is Everywhere, but I’ve got to admit the cover of this one drew me in.

Snow Like Ashes by Sarah Raasch

Because EVERYONE seems to love this one.

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira

I don’t know what happened with this one. I got it from my birthday from the lovely Cait, and never got around to reading it.

Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy

This one I OWN, and it’s here in England with me, so hopefully I’ll be reading it soon! If I haven’t already by the time this is posted.

cruel beauty to all the boys i've loved before don't look back

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

BECAUSE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. That is all.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

This one sounds so funny and cute and I need more of that in my life. Plus I think there’s a second one coming out in 2015?

Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This girl’s written about a million books, so I’m assuming she’s good. Plus my sister keeps pestering me to buy this book so that she can read it.

Are there any books you had the best intentions of reading, but…well, never got around to it? It’s okay, this is a no-judge space (you should see my TBR).

  1. There were so many books in 2014 that I was really excited about but just didn’t have the time to get to either! I’d definitely recommend checking out Masquerade, it has fantastic worldbuilding of the 1700’s in Venice. The Museum of Intangible Things looks promising, and so does Cruel Beauty (plus that cover is goooorgeous).

  2. There are SO many books that I wanted to read that it would be impossible for me to list them all. But Snow Like Ashes and Love Letters to the Dead were definitely on my TBR.

  3. Haha! Don’t feel bad about Love Letters….I…I got Wicked for my birthday last year and I’m still only HALFWAY through it and it’s a whole year later exactly. >.> My bad. (Although tbh, I just want to DNF it. XD lol)
I looooved Cruel Beauty but I’ve only actually read 4 books on your list! SO I’M PRETTY TRAGICALLY BAD TOO. I don’t think I’m doing this prompt this week because it’s just embarrassing how many I haven’t read. >_< haha!

  4. Thank you so much for publishing this!!! I’m doing a reading challenge and one of the things is a 2014 release you missed and I didn’t know any so thank you! Now I want to read all of these… Love Letters to the Dead is really good!

  5. I’m about to read CRUEL BEAUTY, i ordered it so i have to wait for it to be delivered, but ive read the preview on Nook and cant wait for it to arrive. Have you also tried reading THE JEWEL by Amy Ewing? I bought it and read the preview and it sounds really good.

  6. I also really wanted to get to Snow Like Ashes and Cruel Beauty this year. Never fear! I currently have an ebook version of Snow Like Ashes from my library, and just the other day I spotted Cruel Beauty on the shelves at my school library. I might have been a little too happy. My school does not have enough of the books on my TBR, so it was nice to see one of them there.

  7. Snow Like Ashes because like you said, EVERYONE has read it and EVERYONE has loved it. I also need to get on with finishing Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe because even though it wasn’t released in 2014, it got a lot of hype during 2014.

  8. TO ALL THE BOYS AND SNOW LIKE ASHES. HEART MY HEART, EM HOW HAVE YOU MISSED THESE??? I kid, you put me to SHAME with all the aussie authors that you’ve read. I’ve just been too distracted. I need to read Masquerade as well!

  9. Ooh yes, Masquerade!! HOW HAVE I NOT READ THAT BOOK YET!? And OH MY GOD YES YOU SHOULD READ SNOW LIKE ASHES. I LOVE THAT BOOK SO MUCH. CB is on my list, too… I WILL read it his year. I swear, JLA pops out books every month! O.o How does she write and edit books so quickly? I am jealous. 😛 I enjoyed Don’t Look Back, but didn’t love it. Felt like it was a little too predictable for my tastes, but I pretty much like everything she writes. xD

  10. OMG GET YOUR ASS MOVING ON ASK AGAIN LATER, EM! You’ll love me for it..I promise. Omg yes to Cruel Beauty as well! That book is freakishly awesome.

  11. I wanted to read Masquerade and Snow like Ashes, but I didn’t get around to it. I now have Snow Like Ashes on my shelf and plan on reading it in the next month. I did read Cruel Beauty though and it was awesome, you should try and read it ASAP.

  12. I read The Museum of Intangible Things – just fair warning, not a lot of road trip. It wasn’t quite what I expected it to be but I still liked it. On the other hand, I LOVED Love Letters to the Dead. So there’s that. 🙂 I’ve got I’ll Give You the Sun on my TTT this week too. I’ve heard really good things.
    My TTT!

  13. Ah, all the beautiful books! I read Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty (it was melt-worthy, and perfect) so I would recommend To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before based on that buuut I haven’t read the book so wouldn’t know for sure! 😛

  14. Oh, I wanted to read Cruel Beauty, too. I’m hoping to get to it this year as part of the Fairytale Retelling Challenge.

There were so many books released last year that ended up on my want-to-read list. I didn’t even bother doing TTT this week because I didn’t think I could pick just ten books!
