Top Ten New Series I Want To Start

00dc8-toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

Each week there’s a different Top Ten list. It’s a great way to find and connect with other awesome bloggers.

First of all I’d like to say that I am awful at keeping up with series.

Seriously awful. I read the first book and then forget about it for approximately fifteen years. But these are some of the series I want to get into. These are supposed to be NEW series, but I’m classifying that as 2010 and later.

the lost hero the selection shadow and bone

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan – I really loved the Percy Jackson books, so I don’t know what’s stopping me from reading this series. Time, maybe? Everyone I know raves about this series so I should definitely start it.

The Selection by Kiera Cass – I enjoyed The Jewel by Amy Ewing, which is always compared to The Selection, and look at the pretty dresses!

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo – I don’t even know what this series about. BUT I WANT TO READ IT.

snow like ashes not a drop to drink all our yesterdays alienated

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch – I’ve heard so many great things about this one.

Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis – ditto with this one. ALSO THE COVER.

All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill – time travel? Yes please.

Alienated by Melissa Landers – This one also looks like it’s going to be awesome. Plus, the second one comes out next year!

jump the winner's curse 2 the program

Jump by Sean Williams – I actually OWN a copy of this book, so I really should read it.

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski – I’ve seen so much hype surrounding this book, and look how beautiful it is!!

The Program by Suzenne Young – the idea of a suicide epidemic is so intriguing and I really want to see what this book is about.

Although most probably, I will never get to many of these. Such is life. Are there any I should DEFINITELY DEFINITELY read??

  1. I love your logic for reading Shadow and Bone so much! That would be me except I know it has something to do with Russia and a grisha (whatever that is).
The Winner’s Curse looks amazing to me too! The cover is reason enough to start! It’s so pretty!
The Selection I’ve only read the first book of and I liked it for the most part. But the dresses on the cover are what sucked me in at the start 🙂
I’ve also read the Lost Hero but it was sooo long ago that I honestly don’t remember a thing. So reading that one again should probably start soon 🙂
Series you should totally read: The Heist Society Series by Ally Carter, The Graceling Series by Kristin Cashore & The Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld. Those are some of my favorites 🙂

    • HAHA. I have great logic, don’t I? But you know more about it than me 😛

LOL I often start reading books purely based on covers. 😛

I think I will like The Selection. I have a good feeling about it. I don’t really like the dresses on the covers, but in the actual BOOK is another story (pretty dresses are excellent).

And yes, The Lost Hero is pretty high up my priority list because it looks AWESOME. Ooooh I’ve wanted to read the Graceling series forevvvver. Will have to check it out soon!

  2. You have to read Heroes of Olympus! That series is my life. (Quite possibly because they’ve all I’ve been reading for the past month, but whatever.) That’s basically the only one I have read, but I do want to read all the other ones on this list.

  3. I’m not doing this TTT because I am sooooo wary of series it’s unbelievable. I think I’ll just wait for a series to be completed before I even look at it. That said, I read The Program and can’t wait to read the sequel, as is the case with Not a Drop to Drink – those were both awesome! And I’m also pretty keen to read Alienated and Shadow & Bone.

    • Series can be difficult – what if you don’t like the first one but then you might like the SECOND one and…gosh, it’s just so commitment 😛 The Program does look good, though. Same with Not a Drop to Drink, which has such an awesome premise 🙂

  4. OH MY GOSH! YES TO ALL OF THESE!!!
    All Our Yesterdays was incredible!
The Lost Hero and The Selection were awesome!
The Program was amazing (and depressing, but in a good way).
And I haven’t read the others on the list, but I want to!!

And I completely ignored the word ‘new’ in my list…

      • It’s more depessing because of what the characters actually go through…as opposed to the actual depression thing…
I don’t want to say too much, but I did enjoy it.
And I just realised, All Our Yesterdays isn’t technically a series…Cristin Terrill was going to write a sequel, but she couldn’t get it right, so it’s no longer happening.
You should still read it, though. It works fine as a stand-alone.

  5. Shadow and Bone is a must! The first is just askjdhaskd amazing. And I keep hearing the best things about The Winner’s Curse, so I’m curious to see what you think if you decide to read it.

  6. DEFINITELY DEFINITELY READ SHADOW AND BONE. I’m just saying that because thats the only series I’ve read on your list hahaha! Also pretty much all these series are ones I want to read as well. LIKE ALL OUR YESTERDAYS. I’ve heard good things about it, especially since time travel is something thats done poorly in most books. And THE WINNERS CURSE. Since the Winners Crime is being read by many people now, I need to start the first book 😛

    AWESOME LIST EMILY

  7. Ooh…fantastic list! The Selection is quite a fun little read, and I enjoyed The Winner’s Curse, too. I read the first two PJO books back in 2007 and ??, and now I own a box set, so I should reread them so I can finish it…oh well. I should also read Shadow and Bone, because I own the first two books and I want to read all of the others on the list except for Jump. But that’s because I haven’t actually heard of Jump…

    • That’s what I’ve heard! I’m all for fun reads – I need a break sometimes from the heavy books haha. Oooh yes Percy Jackson is awesome – I mostly just like the chapter titles haha. Oh goodness, you OWN Shadow and Bone and you haven’t read it?? Lol I can’t talk, I have like two shelves’ worth of unread books…Jump’s by an Aussie author 😛

  8. The Program is reeeally good!! I didn’t think I’d be that into it, but it was absolutely 5-stars for me. I nearly borrowed out the sequel at the library, but, well, my stack was huge. I NEARLY DROWNED UNDER MY STACK. So hehe. Next time. x)
The Selection isn’t really like the Jewel. It’s more like that Aussie tv series, The Bachelor? Yup. Like that. I liked it, but I never finished the series. -_-
Shadow and Bone was AWESOME! I haven’t finished the trilogy though.
Um…I feel like I have this same problem. Finishing series? BAH HAHA HA. No.

    • I ALMOST picked it up from the library the other day, but exercised self-restraint. I know – good of me 🙂 I had a very large stack. HAHA we need to be taller so we can carry more books.

So another comparison that isn’t very good? Sigh. They’re always doing that. “The next Hunger Games.” “The next Harry Potter.” I won’t start my rant here 😛

  9. :O :O :O :O :O :O Sorry I think I’m going around beginning every comment for thous week’s theme with that face. BECAUSE YOU NEED SHADOW AND BONE. YOU NEED. OMG. AND SNOW LIKE ASHES. DEFINITELY. And while you’re at it ALL OUR YESTERDAYS. Those three should be top top priority because they’re golden. Truly. Omg. I’m super jealous because you can begin this wondrous experience from the start and immerse yourself in their golden worlds!!! HAPPY READINGGGGGGG!

  10. I have The Lost Hero and The Winner’s Curse on my list, too! We must get to those books! Eventually… If time every allows us. >.< You MUST read Snow Like Ashes, the Grisha books, The Treatment, and All Our Yesterdays — I REALLY LOVED ALL THOSE BOOKS. Especially All Our Yesterdays, which I was really hesitant to read, but ended up loving it. I also loved The Selection books, too. 😀

  11. Brilliant list Emily. Out of the books on your list, I highly recommend The Grisha Trilogy. I’ve read the whole trilogy this year as I couldn’t put it down! 🙂

  12. I’m so glad you’re starting on The Selection – it’s one of my favourite series! 😀 And way too many people have recommended the Grisha trilogy to me as well, so I’ll probably be picking that one up sometime soon. Great list! xx

  13. Awesome list Emily! All Our Yesterdays is on my TBR too, and the time-travel concept sounds really promising. Snow Like Ashes looks really intriguing too, so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for that one. I really enjoyed The Winner’s Curse, and aside from probably having the second most pretty cover (after A Thousand Pieces of You), it has a really great storyline too which can only get better in the sequel. It’s true that there are too many books and so little time, but with some of these series to look forward too – I’m sure each read will be worth it 🙂

  14. OMG GIRL GET YOUR ASS MOVING AND READ THE LOST HERO YOU MUST AND YOU CANNOT HAVE ANY EXCUSES BECAUSE ALL THE BOOKS ARE NOW OUT AND YOU CAN BINGE READ THEM AND IT WILL BE ALL KINDS OF AWESOME TRUST ME.

  15. The only book I have read out of these is All Our Yesterdays and it was definitely an epic yet simiple affair with the time travel. I really enjoyed that one! I haven’t read Jump, The Lost Hero either even though I own both of those :S oops. Definitely read The Winner’s Curse too, that is a really wonderful historical romance!

  16. Shadow and Bone is on my list as well, pretty much for the exact same reason! All the blogger hype, especially from some of my faves, yet I can’t seem to track it down anywhere. Of course, where I’m going to find the time to read it is another story! Great list 🙂

  17. Shadow and Bone is hard to describe. It’s set in a world like Russia with a monarchy and soldiers called Grisha who have magical powers. It’s unique and really good. The Heroes of Olympus series rocks! I didn’t think it was possible for it to be better than Percy Jackson, but it is!!

  18. I loved Percy Jackson, too, but I have yet to even pick up ay book in the new series. Also don’t know why o.o
And I’ve been DYING to the The Selection. My book buddy loved it and the DRESSES ARE BEAUTIFUL I WANT ONE. I love the title and cover of Snow Like Ashes. Didn’t know it was a series, but now I do aha. And I’ve always been wanting to read Not a Drop to Drink. Awesome cover and awesome concept, I want (: Same with All Our Yesterdays. Who couldn’t use another time travel story?
As for Alienated, it looks like my type. I mean, ALIENS. I feel like that’s all I write about sometimes.
I always see The Winner’s Curse but I have no idea what it’s about, so I’ve never attempted to pick it up. It does have a lovely cover though. And The Program! Yes! I must read this!
Wow, I feel so terribly horribly behind in my reading :/

    • I don’t know why either! I just haven’t got around to it. Maybe because of laziness lol.

I LOVE BEAUTIFUL DRESSES 😀 and The Selection sounds like it’s got lots of them. Well I was browsing 2015 releases and the second one is listed there, so I guess it must be 🙂 YES. Not a Drop to Drink and All Our Yesterdays came out around the same time and I really want to read both.

Haha, The Winner’s Curse I think is historical. So not quite my thing. But maybe it will convince me otherwise…

  19. You definitely need to read the Heroes of Olympus series, Emily!!! It is SO GOOD. Also, this is my first time commenting on your blog, but I’ve been following your blog for a long time and I absolutely love it. Just wanted you to know.

I had high hopes for the Selection, but it wasn’t as good as I expected 😦
And other than The Lost Hero and The Selection, I haven’t read any of the books you mentioned, although all of them are on my TBR.I’m seriously very excited to read all of these!

    • I REALLY DO, DON’T I? I loved Percy Jackson, and Heroes of Olympus is more my age group, too. Ooooh yay, how exciting! I do love reading comments 🙂 thank you so much 🙂

Aww I’ve heard some negative reviews of The Selection, actually. But I might be an odd one out, who knows?? And yep, my TBR is sky-high haha.
