I’m back! I have internet! I read lots of books!

Hey, everyone! It’s nice to have wi-fi again. While I’ve been away, I’ve:

– Tried not to get sunburnt (tick! With the help of SPF 50+ sunscreen, that is. I get burnt on cold days)

– Swam lots! Except now I’m kind of deaf from all the water getting in my ears. That’s okay. I don’t need my hearing for blogging.

– Read a few books. These ones:

My favourites out of these were The Last Girl, Writing Clementine and How To Keep a Boy From Kissing You. That’s disregarding the ones I’ve reread, of course. It’s Kind of a Funny Story is one of my favourite books and I actually BOUGHT a copy last night. Hectic. Plus it has an excellent cover. I finished it last Saturday, but because I’m sneaky and knew I would finish it, I put it as “recently read” for my Sunday post. I’m probably not making sense.

– I’ve also started planning my Alice in Wonderland retelling, thanks almost entirely to re-reading the original (plus awesome retellings like Splintered, Unhinged, the TV show Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and the Tim Burton movie). I’ve had a lot of fun making up new characters like the Motley Fox, the Marmalade Minstrel, the gloom crows, teacup trees, nomadic poppies and lots more. But that’s all I’m saying for now. I’ll probably post more about it when I’ve written more. Planning a contemporary is so much easier than a fantasy!

– I played lots of games of cards. Sevens, 31, sets and runs, 500, euchre, cheater, Uno, snap, old maid, solitaire…that was fun.

– Missed you all! A week without internet is harsh, people. HARSH. This is me cyber-hugging you.

DON’T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT CEDRIC I WILL EAT YOU.

It’s good to be back. I’m at school in a couple more days, and I’ll have much less time to read, but I’ll still be blogging every day. And you’ll find some of the reviews of the books I’ve read in the coming weeks! I’m not reviewing ALL of them, but…quite a few.

How has everyone been while I was gone?

  1. Yay, I’m glad that you’re back Emily but it sounds like you had lots of fun! Glad you enjoyed The Last Girl, I did too. The Alice in Wonderland re-read sounds fun, I haven’t watched the series yet but I intend to.

  2. YAAAAY YOU ARE BACK. THIS IS A GLORIOUS TIME. Though I have to admit, it was super uber handy that we went away for basically the same time. 🙂 AND I AM GETTING COMMENTS BACK TO YOU ASAP. Gah. Life. Also, I’m sticking my hand up if you want someone to bounce chapters/ideas/whatnot off for your Alice retelling. Have I mentioned I love Alice in Wonderland? (I keep it hush, hush, don’t I now? XD HAR HAR).

    • Right? Our parents must have ESP or something. Once I’ve started getting my thoughts together about Alice, I’ll definitely be emailing you 🙂 right now I’m thinking of calling it Wanderland, but that will almost definitely change. And WHAT, you like Alice in Wonderland??? I had no idea! 😛

  3. An Alice retelling? Cool! Have you ever seen/played the video game Alice: Madness Returns..? creeeeepy! But also tres cool.

Sounds like you had fun! And you got a lotta books read too!

    🙂

  4. YAY you are back! 🙂 Glad that you enjoyed How To keep a boy from kissing you. Looks like lots of fun.

Have a great week, Em! <33

    • The internet is a lovely, lovely thing, and I missed it. But it did give me more time for…well, anything other than the internet. Night Vision was quite good – nothing incredible, but the idea is really unique and it was actually quite informative.

  5. It’s so good to have you back Emily! It’s been a quiet week without you, and that’s a bad thing. You’ve read so many books, well done! I remember not enjoying Alice in Wonderland, but Splintered has always taken my eye, so I’m considering it now. I also love my card games, such simple pleasures. Don’t go vanishing again, I missed you!

    • Aww, thank you! That means a lot. And it makes my return even more joyous. Alice in Wonderland…well, I guess you like it or you don’t. But you might like Splintered! I won’t go vanishing for a while now, I’ve had quite enough time without internet 🙂

  6. Glad to have you back! I’m so envious that you got to read a lot of books. I haven’t been reading seriously for a while now, mainly because nothing just catches my interests, or if one does, they don’t last longer than 30 minutes. Oh, well! I can’t wait to see you reviewing again!

  7. Welcome back girl! I’ve missed seeing you around and on this lovely blog c: I love swimming, wish I could do it more. I only do it when I go on vacation haha. It sucks about sunburn though :/

You definitely managed to get a decent amount of reading done, great job ^.^ Honestly though, I don’t recognize the majority of those books though. Well obviously I recognize Order of the Phoenix and Alice in Wonderland. Other then that though?? Nothing is really clicking for me haha.

Oooo I’m glad to hear that your retelling is coming along nicely c: I’m excited for you hehe.

    • I don’t swim much either. I’m about an hour from the coast and there’s just not much opportunity.

Five of those books are Australian – might be why. One’s German and I only picked it up because of the cover. And Looking for JJ – well, I’d never heard it before I won the second book. I was just finishing up my review copies 🙂

I’m really excited for the retelling! I got Pinterest today so I’m looking forward to exploring some Alice in Wonderland stuff 🙂
