Stacking the Shelves, BTCYA and Winter Again

This week was pretty eventful.

– Second week of year 12, and my goodness, it shows.

– I went to my first book event, #BTCYA (hosted by HarperCollins) – met some awesome people and had a fantastic time.

– It’s also WINTER again, in terms of weather. It was snowing in the Blue Mountains, right near where I live…snow doesn’t often happen in Australia, but when it DOES, it’s in the weirdest time. This time last year there were bushfires, and now snow. Crazy. There were also thunderstorms and I drove in the rain for the first time and…

Why am I talking about the weather?

Let’s just go to Stacking the Shelves.

STSmall

Stacking the Shelves is a book meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. It’s all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual.

The Books

CAM00430

Nona and Me by Clare Atkins – I won this thanks to the awesome Cait @ Notebook Sisters and Black Inc Books. Cait’s random generator thingy really does love me – I’ve won two things from her this year!

Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas – the wonderful Sarah Epps had a spare copy of this and sent it to me! Because she is AWESOME. I then proceeded to read it VORACIOUSLY. My review will be up soon.

The Cracks in the Kingdom by Jaclyn Moriarty – I own the first book in this series but haven’t read it yet. I traded this one with Eugenia @ Genie in a Book.

The Astrologer’s Daughter by Rebecca Lim – another trade with Eugenia! This one looks like a lot of fun

Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant – my final trade with Eugenia – Cait gave this one a fantastic review and I seriously need to read it. Like right now.

The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There by Catherynne M. Valente – the second book in the series, this looks like SO MUCH FUN. I traded this with Gina @ Behind the Pages.

The Girl Who Soared Over Fairyland and Cut the Moon in Two by Catherynne M. Valente – the THIRD book in the series, another trade. I can’t wait to give these two a go!

Corruption by Jessica Shirvington – I bought this at BTCYA because…well, I couldn’t NOT BUY IT. And it’s so shiiiiiiiny. *strokes book*

  1. I’m EXCITED. *smashes cup in Thor-like way to show enthusiasm* I’m also cranky at Australia for messing with the weather. I WANT IT TO BE SUMMER. And it’s freakishly weird to remember how hot it was last year. Now I’m still wearing long sleeves and my bed has fifty-two blankets. Wheeeere is my summer? *sobs* My relatives are holidaying in America right now and they have WARMER weather than us. And they’re in Autumn! GAH. Okay, I, too, will quit talking about the weather. *nods*

My random generator just ADORES your name. lol

DANGEROUS BOYS AFJDKLSAFSDFA. I’m glad you had a good reading week! And I’m glad you liked DB (I think DG is my favourite, but, hey, I gave both of them 5-stars, so….there’s that.) I think I’ll read Ghosts of Heaven (I don’t even know what it’s about) this week too. I accidentally have an enormous TBR again AND I’m trying to write which means I’m not reading so. *sobs* I overestimate myself sometimes.

    • Australia is seriously crazy. I’ve given up trying to understand it anymore. But yessss I love summer as well!! I NEED summer before I go to England for a month!!

Hahahaha ALL random generators love my name 😛

I liked Dangerous Girls a lot more, but…actually, if I’d read Dangerous Boys first it might have been different? I think? I have no idea. Oooh yes I want to read Ghosts of Heaven soon – right after I read Corruption which OMG I’M SO EXCITED FOR. My TBR is getting ridiculous too. Those bloody bloggers swapping books with me. How dare they 😛

  2. So many cool books this week Emily! Looking forward to seeing your reviews of ‘A Thousand Pieces of You’ and ‘Golden’ especially, and it’s nice to see that you really liked them too 🙂 I’ve had Fahrenheit 451 on my TBR for ages and started reading it but for some reason didn’t get too far (I think other books may have gotten in the way), but now I’m inspired to try it again.

  3. IT WAS SNOWING?!?!?! Wow, I knew the weather was bad last week (storms galore), but I didn’t realise it was snowing near you. That is insane.

Once again, it was nice getting to touch your elbow at BTCYA 😛 Wish we could have talked more but there was definitely lining up to be done! Hopefully I get to meet you for reals at the next event lovely xx

You’ve got some pretty epic books this week! I need to read and review A Thousand Pieces of You as well (eeeep!) so I’m glad to hear that it was a 4-star read for you. Yipee!

    • IT. WAS. SNOWING. If I had driven for like half an hour up the mountains, I would have been able to see (and touch, I spose) snow. Crazy.

HAHA. My elbow appreciated it. I’ll never wash it again 😛 But yep, next time, definitely 😀

A Thousand Pieces of You was so great. I hope you like it 🙂

  4. Lucky you! I’d love to visit the Blue Mountains one day- I mean, it’s like the only place it snows in Australia (right??). Speaking of storms, we had a thunderstorm dancing around all yesterday and last night. I think it’s over now 😛 And the booookksss!! I am DYING to get my hands on A Thousand Pieces of You… and I guess every other book you have. Lucky you for winning books as well! Alas, I am yet to win a book. Have a great week Em!

  5. Oooooo 2nd blogoversary!!! I’ll make sure to comment on that. AND LOOK AT ALL THOSE BOOKS! Do you just randomly trade with bloggers you know? Because that’s awesome! ALSO SNOW??? It hasn’t snowed where I am yet, but it probably will soon. It always does.

anyways, HAVE A HAPPY READING WEEK!

  6. Snow?! That’s crazy! I got hail and I already thought that was too much. And to think, it was all sunshine and whatnot just a couple hours earlier. I desperately need to read Dangerous Boys! I read the other one months ago and just never got round to the second one! It sounds just as good though and I’m glad you enjoyed it 😀 THE GHOSTS OF HEAVEN!! I can’t wait for you to read this one. The cover is so pretty (although, I kind of love the US one…) Hopefully it’s good as well! Have a good week, Emily and happy early 2 years!!! x

    • Yeah, we had a bit of hail too. And the week before was like 35 degrees or something ridiculous. #straya

Ooooh yes read Dangerous Boys and then tell me what you think, lol. I’m intrigued 🙂 YES THE GHOSTS OF HEAVEN LOOKS SO PRETTY WITH THE US COVER. But this one’s lovely as well.

  7. Oooh no doubt you have something awesome planned for your blogoversary Emily, I can’t wait to see what! I haven’t heard much about BTCYA, I hope it was enjoyable! Congrats on your first bookish event. Looks like you got lots of fantastic books there, especially Dangerous Girls and Corruption! Woohoo!

  8. And now, it’s starting to get warm again! The weather really needs to decide what it’s doing. 🙂

I borrowed the next two Fairyland books today — I can’t wait to see what you think of them, Emily, they look great. 😀 And considering I did enjoy the first I’m hoping I’ll like the rest. DANGEROUS BOYS LOOKS AMAZING. I can’t wait for your review… but I have to ask: was it as good as Dangerous Girls?? How can anything live up to that standard??

  9. The last gif, the ungodly one, just made my day (week? yeah, week) it’s EPIC!
All of the books are gorgeous and you the event looks so fun!
Glad you had an interesting week!
